Me and My Twinky Boots

It was sometime last week that I accompanied my sister to Alabang Town Center to look for a pair of Crocs slippers that she's been eyeing for sometime now. She found one for her girlfriend and bought a pair.  On our way out of the big mall, we passed by a window display of fashionable boots. I had no plans of buying but I thought there's no harm in trying out some and see if they fit.

My Baguio Getup

It is only when I go up to Baguio, or when the weather gets cold here in Manila (which is rare), that I get to wear my coats, faux fur jackets, fluffy neck warmers and leather boots. This is one of those occasions. It was quite cold and rainy when I went up to Baguio over the weekend and I was happy to have come prepared.

My Semi-Winter Getup

.... LOL! I know, I know. It doesn't snow here in the Philippines but I was really feeling cold last weekend (and too tired to come up with anything stylish to wear) that I decided to don an attire that will help keep me warm. Hence, my long sleeved knitted blouse, topped with faux fur vest, black leggings, mini skirt and my favorite suede boots. Anyway, I was just going to have dinner at Fez and coffee at My Desserts then head back home.

Ninette on the other hand was looking stylish that evening. I originally planned to go clubbing. Had I figured out what to wear, and if Ninette didn't have any plans to join the Condura run the following day, we could've gone to Republic or Encore. Anyway, I just wanted to share. :-)

Baguio Fashion: Then and Now

One thing I love about traveling is the art of packing. You know why? Coz before I get to pack my clothes (according to the sequence of wearing them), I make sure that I do a little fashion show first inside the comforts of our own bedroom just so I'm sure that I'm comfy and that I look good with what I plan to wear, much more so if I'm going to a cold place like Baguio. This means that I'd be able to wear once again some of my fur coats, fur gloves, leather jackets and my favorite pair of suede boots. ^_^

Anyway, looking back, I really see a pattern with my sense of fashion whenever I'd go to Baguio. I was there on Thursday and Friday when I got the privilege to stay at Mines View Park Hotel. Thank God for this trip, I got to don once again my favorite pieces from my own collection of cold apparel, which I have accumulated the last decade.

It was in 1998 when I first went to Baguio with my college friends. I remember the place to be very romantic that I swore to never go back there again lest I come with the love of my life... coz it can really get lonely if you go there on your own. So, in 2002, after I got married and my mother-in-law suffered an untimely death, Peter and I decided to go there for a change of atmosphere after all those heart breaking moments.

Then in
2005, a year after we became members of Club Panoly, we used some of our points to enjoy its affiliate hotel in Baguio.

Year 2007 was when I celebrated my birthday there in time for the Panagbenga Festival and Brownman Revival's Gig.

Year 2010 was when I first came to Baguio with my fellow bloggers sponsored by Mines View Park Hotel.

It feels nice to be able to wear my old stuff like my suede jacket, suede boots, Mango boots and beret. I think they still look good on me after all these years, and more importantly, I still feel comfortable wearing them. I got these things at various ukay-ukay shops before.

'Til my next Baguio trip! ^_^

My Fashion Blog

I'm thinking of putting up a sub blog or probably just a new tag about fashion (street fashion, beach fashion, mall fashion, party fashion. etc.) But mostly, MY SENSE OF FASHION over the years. Hehehe. It's gonna feature the Sexy Nomad in its vainest form from 2002 onwards. Eventually, I'll look into my network as to who wears what and where can we get those pretty little things we call clothes & accessories. Hmmm... what do you think? " --- Sexy Nomad

And now, here it is, vanity, my favorite sin, my very own devil's work. Oh Lord, forgive me. I know you won't let this petty hobby of mine erase all the other good things I've done in my life. It's just a wonderful thing to be able to show how one can create beauty out of all the rags available in the market, right? That's like letting my creative juices flow thereby showing I am also your co-creator, coz I create beauty for everyone to see! (Now, who says I can't philosophize my way out of vanity?!)

For my first fashion post, let's talk about boots! There aren't a lot of Pinays who go around in boots and I guess for good reason. With our tropical weather, wearing boots here can lead to hot feet instead of a hot look. It's a pity though, because boots are a great way of punching up the ooomph factor of most outfits. Me, I like 'em precisely because not too many people wear 'em. Why follow the herd when you can stand out, right? Here's some of my photos featuring several of my beloved boots!
